Volvo Technology is a Business Unit of the Volvo Group (i.e. AB Volvo) with head office in Gothenburg (Sweden) and offices in Lyon (France), Greensboro/Allentown/Los Angeles (United States) and Shanghai (China). It is an innovation company that on contract basis invents researches, develops and integrates new product and business concepts and technology for hard as well as soft products within the transport and vehicle industry. We work primarily in the key technology areas: soft products, process & manufacturing, vehicle technologies & transport solutions, propulsion, electrical & embedded systems, and new technologies. We participate in national and international projects in certain strategic areas, involving universities, research institutes and other companies. Through all European framework programmes, Volvo Technology has participated in a large number of projects. Volvo is also active in working groups within organisations such as ERTRAC, EUCAR and ERTICO. Beside R&D, Volvo Technology offers specialist services in key expert functions: intellectual property protection, standardization, information retrieval, materials technology as well as Volvo Production System.
