Instituto Superior Tecnico (IST) is the Engineering School of the Technical University of Lisbon, which is committed to education and research in various areas of engineering and technology. It has an academic staff of approximately 800, about 10,000 undergraduate students and 1000 PhD students. The Centre for Marine Technology and Engineering (CENTEC) is the Research Centre of Instituto Superior Técnico that will be participating in this project. CENTEC has total research personnel of 80, organised in four groups: Marine invironment, Marine Dynamics and Hydrodynamics, Marine Structures, and Safety, Reliability and Maintainability. Amongst these, there are 33 persons at PhD level, about half of which are academics. This Centre has been involved in about 50 European projects.
